Meet the Team

Tatyana S. Ustimchuk

Tatyana received her Bachelor’s Degree in 2012 from the University of California at Berkeley and her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2015.

Tatyana was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2016. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Spartanburg County Bar Association, the South Carolina Association for Justice, and the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.

Prior to having founded Hub City Law, LLC, Tatyana was an Associate at a prestigious law firm in Spartanburg, South Carolina where she concentrated on family law. There, she represented individuals undergoing divorce proceedings and proceedings for legal separation. Additionally, she represented third-parties in custody cases, as well as parents in cases involving the South Carolina Department of Social Services.

Prior to that, Tatyana served as an assistant solicitor for the Seventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office. There, she prosecuted a wide variety of criminal offenses, including DUI’s, domestic violence, and drug crimes. As assistant solicitor, Tatyana participated in a multitude of contested hearings and tried multiple cases to verdict.

Tatyana was born in the Republic of Moldova and raised in Northern California. She moved to South Carolina in 2012 to pursue her legal career. When time and opportunity permit, Tatyana likes to read, run, and spend time with her husband and their two children.

Derrick B. Bulsa

Derrick received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Wofford College in 1986. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1990.

Derrick was admitted to the bar in 1990. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar and the Spartanburg County Bar Association.

Derrick immediately began working as a prosecutor for the York County Solicitor’s Office in 1990. He moved back home to Spartanburg in 1991 when he joined the Seventh Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Derrick has worked for three different Solicitors while with the Spartanburg and Cherokee offices. Derrick rose to the level of Deputy Solicitor under Solicitor Trey Gowdy and was Solicitor Barry Barnette’s Deputy Solicitor for eleven years prior to his retirement.

Derrick has prosecuted countless number of cases, taking well over 100 cases to verdict. He was Holman Gossett’s principal homicide prosecutor in the 1990s. He prosecuted just about every type of case under Trey Gowdy and Barry Barnette, including capital cases.

Derrick was involved with several of the diversionary programs in the Solicitor’s Office. He was the first Drug court prosecutor and started the Veterans Treatment court. He was also instrumental in getting the Spartanburg Homeless court started. While Derrick was concerned for victim rights, he was also concerned with trying to help offenders get back on the right track.

Derrick is also a Veteran, having received a commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Army following graduation from the Wofford College Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) in 1986. Derrick served 6 years in the South Carolina National Guard.

Derrick was raised in Spartanburg and is proud to have served his community for over 30 years. Derrick retired from the Solicitor’s office in 2022 and consulted for one more year. He is a member of First Baptist Spartanburg and serves his church community in many ways. Derrick enjoys sports, DIY projects, volunteering, and spending time with his wife and four children.
